Speedup Folder Browsing PDF Print E-mail
Written by Administrator

Every time that you open My Computer or Windows Explorer to browse folders there is a delay and the computer takes a while to display all the icons. The reason for this is because Windows XP will automatically search for network files and printers every time you open Windows Explorer, the more you have the more time it will take. If you add all these little delays... you can imagine the rest!

In order to increase the browsing speed significantly, follow these simple steps:

  1. Open My Computer -> Click on Tools menu -> Click on Folder Options -> Click on the View tab.
  2. Uncheck the "Automatically search for network folders and printers" check box
  3. Click Apply ->Click Ok
  4. Reboot your computer

Windows Indexing Services PDF Print E-mail
Written by Rafael

Indexing Services is a Windows Xp default component that uses large amounts of RAM and can often make your computer and specially your hard drive work harder. This service indexes and updates a lists of all the files that are on your hard drive in order to make a fast search whenever you need it. Instead of searching on the files it will search in the index list that it creates. Even if you search often on your computer, you don't need this service always using your system resources. The main problem that I see is the overuse or misuse of your hard drive, this service can reduce the lifespan of your hard drive.

To disable Indexing Services follow these simple steps:

  1. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Double-click Add/Remove Programs
  2. Click the Add/Remove Window Components
  3. Uncheck the Indexing services
  4. Click Next

Disable Indexing Services

Problems with Windows Updates! PDF Print E-mail
Written by Administrator
Wednesday, 15 August 2007 00:00

Lately I've been having problems with Windows Updates on XP Service Pack 2, I found that 2 of my customers that had the same problem installed VistaTransformation pack 7 previously on their system, even after performing a windows repair installation we weren't able to do any updates. The only way update where able to be done was downloading them manually and installing each of them separately from the Microsoft website.

After trying a few solutions the only one that worked was the following:

Go to start -> Run type CMD press okCopy and paste the following text into the command prompt to reregister your wuauclt files:

%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe iuengine.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe wuapi.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe wuaueng1.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe wuauserv.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe wucltui.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe wups.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe wuweb.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe wups2.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe cdm.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe msxml2r.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe msxml3r.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe msxml.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe msxml3.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe msxmlr.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe msxml2.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe qmgr.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe qmgrprxy.dll

You will get some popup windows saying that files were successfully registered and others with errors, click "ok" in all of them, return to the command prompt and type the following:

wuauclt /detectnow

Restart your ocmputer and you are done! Your updates will install automatically!
